Description
Russian
Age 8-13 is a multi-level, multi-age language training course geared
to assist students in becoming conversationally proficient by introducing
the basic elements of structure and a vocabulary of 500-1000 words.
Students will be able to satisfy immediate needs by speaking, reading,
writing, and understanding oral and written Russian. This course
will help to increase awareness of cultural and social differences
and characteristics.
Objectives
At
the end of the school year (30 hours of instruction), students are
expected to accomplish the following tasks.
- Using
simple greetings and salutations in social and professional situations;
responding to basic expressions of courtesy
- Able
to converse with a Russian native using various topics of conversations
- Responding to requests for individual and family biographical information
- Utilizing
numbers to tell the time of the day and shop
- Asking and telling the time of the day and the times for various
events
- Expressing dates, days of the week, months, seasons, and years
- Describing the weather using simple words and phrases
- Utilizing
basic colors to describe objects, pictures
- Comprehending
while reading printed texts
- Writing
separate words, sentences, short stories
Grammar
Through
practice of the above tasks, students will be introduced to the following
elements of structure:
- The
Russian alphabet and pronunciation; word spelling
- Parts
of Speech: noun, pronoun, verb, adjective, adverb
- Gender
of nouns, singular and plural forms of nouns
- Singular and plural forms of nouns
- Numbers
1-1000
- Question
words: how, where, who, which, when
- Prepositions
used in giving personal information: from
- Prepositions in telling time
- Days of the week, months of the year, seasons
- Verbs
in the Present Tense
